Maurice and The Snow Storm

Maurice & The Snow Storm

Maurice, our Front Desk Agent, isn’t exactly a huge fan of the snow. And driving in the stuff? He dislikes that even more. But one cold, grey December evening, our intrepid Maurice ventured out into one of the biggest storms of the season. What could have driven him to drive into this tempest? His sense of duty. You see, one of our guests had left an important item behind. Knowing that a cab wouldn’t make it to the airport in time to reunite our guest with his property, Maurice took matters, as well as a frigid steering wheel, into his own hands. Arriving at the airport with mere minutes to spare, Maurice personally handed the item to our surprised, and extremely relieved, traveller. Proof once again that, even after you’ve left our hotel, you’re still a VIP.

Anne and The Cupcake

Anne & The Cupcake

Anne, our meeting room attendant, was sharing the elevator with guests one day when she struck up a conversation with an almost six-year-old girl. “It’s my birthday tomorrow,” beamed the girl. “Well, happy birthday,” chimed Anne. A pleasant, if unexceptional, exchange. It didn’t end there, however. Knowing that the family was booked into the breakfast buffet the next day, Anne developed a plan. She bought a cupcake, a card, a candle and a camera. The next morning, Anne and other staff members lit the candle, placed it in the cupcake, sang happy birthday and took photos of the surprised and delighted six-year-old, creating a birthday moment her family will never forget. It seems that when you stay at the Victoria Park Suites hotel, you’re never too young to be a VIP.

Rita and The Tour Bus

Rita & The Tour Bus

As our Meeting and Group Coordinator, Rita is accustomed to guiding large numbers of people through our meeting space. Guiding them through our fair city, however, is a task she’s performed only once. It started as she was bidding farewell to a group that was about to embark on a bus tour of Ottawa. As the bus idled, the promoter was panicking. The guide hadn’t arrived yet. “No problem,” said Rita, laughing, “If he’s a no-show, give me a shout and I’ll give the tour.” Fifteen minutes later, Rita’s phone rang. Without hesitating, Rita ran down-stairs, boarded the bus, and improvised the entire tour. Arriving back at the hotel to thunderous applause and even a few tips, Rita proved that our guests are always VIPs wherever they happen to be sitting.
